SERVICES

COACHING

I hold a British Athletics ‘Athletics Coach’ licence, which qualifies and insures me to coach unsupervised. I have also passed the ‘Coaching Assistant’ and ‘Leader in Running Fitness’ qualifications.

I now offer running coaching to all levels of distance runners, covering topics including training, race preparation, nutrition, hydration, injury-prevention, strength & conditioning, and mental training. I coach in person or remotely (by phone/email), and offer coaching individually or in small groups. I also do running workshops (theory and/or practical) for clubs, companies and other organisations.

Examples of recent coaching activities I have
done include:

  • Mitsubishi Corporation, London: series of three coaching sessions for beginners and intermediates;
  • Japanese Running Club, London: series of three coaching sessions to prepare members for Paris Marathon;
  • One-to-one coaching on running and general conditioning for girls aged 10/11;
  • Running Masterclasses for corporate donors to the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust;
  • ‘Flying Coach’ visit for Kent London Athletics Network;
  • Drills and conditioning coaching at Surrey Schools Athletics Days;
  • Volunteer assistant coaching at St Mary’s College, Twickenham.

If you would like to book me for coaching, or a workshop, please get in touch. I am based in SW London but am happy to travel further afield.

WRITING

I never thought of myself as a writer, but the more I do it, the more I love it, especially the endless challenge of capturing in words how running feels - the exhilaration, freedom, sense of satisfaction and sheer joy of it!

Examples of writing I have done recently include:

  • A monthly blog for ‘Run England’ – England Athletics’ website which aims to encourage beginners and non-runners to take up running;

  • An article for the BBC website’s ‘Get Inspired’ page on my top ten reasons to run;

  • An article for Japanese airline, JAL’s in-flight magazine on running in Tokyo;

  • My marathon top tips for the website of race agency ‘Run Fast’ based in London;

  • An article for the Girls Day School Trust’s alumnae e-magazine;

  • A report for the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust’s website on a Running Masterclass I coached on their behalf.

My first book, Marathon Wisdom, was published in 2022 - more detail at the 'Book' tab. If you would like me to write for a magazine, book or other publication, please get in touch. My blog on this website gives a flavour of my style of writing.

SPEAKING

During my athletics career and since, I have spoken at a variety of events in English and Japanese, including key-note speeches, talk-shows, Q&As, and informal talks. Examples of speaking engagements I have recently delivered include:
